Elmwood Businesses Show Their Support

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it is awesome to see how many businesses in the Elmwood Village are showing their support! The main event going on this month is the Shoptober Bra Crawl hosted by Her Story. The event was started by the owners of Her Story, Susan Morreale, who is a breast cancer survivor, and her daughter, Ciara. As someone who has a family member that is a breast cancer survivor, I find it truly inspiring to see how many people are participating in this event and how much awareness it is raising. As Susan Morreale states, “This is an excellent opportunity for us to show unity in the Elmwood village, while supporting a great organization.”

About 40 businesses, including boutiques to restaurants, are decorating bras and displaying them in their windows to raise awareness. Business owners have gotten so creative, from feathers to beer bottle tops. The Bra Crawl will take place Thursday, October 23, from 5:00pm-9:00pm. Customers can vote on their favorite bra and 15% of all sales will be going to the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, keeping the donations within Western New York. There will also be a reception at 1045 Elmwood Ave.
