Out and About in the Elmwood Village

If you haven’t already heard, Buffalo is expecting a hot summer this year! With the newest additions to the Elmwood Village, there couldn’t be a better time to get outside and explore the neighborhood. To maximize your time in the sunshine, try out these ideas…

Bike! The Elmwood Village has extensive bike lanes throughout the area to make your biking experience as accessible as possible. The city has established new bike routes and designated lanes for bikers, allowing you to travel anywhere. Additionally, Delaware Park offers a more scenic route for biking and nature enthusiasts. Wherever you decide to ride, you will be able to enjoy the scenery of the Elmwood Village, get exercise, and discover hidden gems in the area. Run! Whether you are an avid runner or someone looking to enjoy the outdoors, the Elmwood Village hosts several events that appeal to both. In the past, the Elmwood Village has included events such as the Ronald McDonald 5K Run/Walk and the Subaru Buffalo 4 Mile Chase in their summer itinerary. Keep an eye out for similar events this summer! Feel free to participate or watch, and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Row! You can now experience a day on the water without ever leaving your neighborhood. Hoyt Lake has introduced rowboat rentals for the summer, which creates a new way to have a relaxing summer day. The rowboats are available for rent at the bottom of the steps behind the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park. After an afternoon on the water, enjoy a picnic or walk around the scenic lake.

Stroll! There are endless adventures to discover in the Elmwood Village. Spend an afternoon strolling the Village, admiring the architecture, and sampling new restaurants. Take your dog for a walk and eat at one of the many restaurants with pet-friendly patios; you can never go wrong with lunch at Ashker’s! After a day exploring the EV, relax on Bidwell Parkway, located adjacent to Elmwood Avenue.
