Summer has flown by and it is officially August, can you believe it? This month has a bad reputation as the dreary end to summer by way of its hurried clock. With only a few short weeks until school and scheduling begin, August is often cast aside with the idea that we must use the month to prepare for the inevitable demise of carefree summer days. However, this is your opportunity to take advantage of an unfairly discredited month, and soak up every ounce of the duration of summer. Don’t let this month slip away, there is still plenty of summer left to enjoy!
In the Elmwood Village, specifically, there is an abundance of activities and events to enjoy this month. Tuesday, August 9th, is our final Picnic in the Parkway. This highly anticipated concert features tunes from the Heavenly Chillbillies, classic Buffalo food favorites, and a concert experience guaranteed to close out our series on a high note. If you’ve never been to Picnic in the Parkway, there’s no better time to experience it for the first time. And if you’ve been a series regular, we are excited to round out the season with you! Nevertheless, our final show is absolutely one to mark down in your calendar. The show begins at 7pm with pre-show entertainment at 6:30pm.
Later this month, be sure to check out the Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts. This is always a popular summer event, and a perfect way to end your summer in the Village. Shop with more than 170 artists, watch over 50 performances, and dance with your family and friends. The kids will have a blast at Kidfest, where they can be creative and even march in our Kidfest Parade. Essentially, this festival has something that appeals to everyone; there will be an area dubbed “Environmental Row” for visitors to learn about environmental initiatives, and “Cultural Row”, where you can experience cultures from all over the world. In addition, there will be no shortage of food. This all takes place August 27th and 28th. Please visit http://eafa.techriver.net/ for more information.
Keep an eye out for numerous other events taking place in the Village, and see all that August has to offer!
