Ashley Smith is an urban planner with experience in community planning, policy analysis, and nonprofit management. She believes in the power of informed collaboration to produce meaningful change from the grassroots level. Ashley focuses on infrastructure finance and transportation policy, composing Complete Streets Policy Guides and reports for municipalities in the Western and Central New York regions and co-authoring the NYU Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management report “Intelligent Paratransit” in 2016. Ashley is an avid cyclist and serves on the Board of Directors for GoBike Buffalo. She is also a founding member of the Code for Buffalo brigade of Code for America.
Ashley holds a B.A. in English from the University at Buffalo, where she wrote her honors thesis on Ecology in modern American literature, and a Master’s in urban planning from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Ashley received an AIANY Heritage Ball Award in honor of the Rudin Family in 2016 and the Robert Berne Award for Leadership in 2017.
